PENKETH and CALVERT

Established: 1853
Ended: 1855?

Architect

The partnership between P PENKETH and J CALVERT in Cape Town from about 1853 or 1854, probably for not longer than two years. Sophia GRAY considered them to be 'crooks', and modified their plans for St Mary's Church on the Braak in Stellenbosch. According to Radford (1979:189) St John's Church in Long St, Cape Town (1853-7) in Early English Gothic Revival style, was designed by Calvert and built by Penketh.
