SCOTT, Sir George Gilbert

Architect


A major Victorian architect and one of a dynasty of Scotts, George Gilbert Scott was very well known for his church architecture. Scott did not come to South Africa but he designed the Church of St George and St Michael, Grahamstown in 1874. On his death in 1878 his son, John Oldrid SCOTT (1841-1913) completed the work (see also W WHITE-COOPER).
