In about 1927 he entered into partnership with HL ROBERTS, the partnership lasted until 1939 (cf ROBERTS & SMALL). He was in association with FM GLENNIE in 1940 in Cape Town. Nothing has so far been ascertained about his training. In the year he resigned from the Institute of South African Architects in 1959 he is recorded as being of Atkinson House, Strand Street, Cape Town. ISAA 1927.
