Was born in Fulham, London, England, UK, son of Valentine Brustmeyer (1871-1953) and Ida Rosa (nee) Kresse (1879-1952). He married Audrey Pryce Brown (1914-1998) in Claremont, Cape Town on 1941 03 24 (Family Search).

Obtained a Diploma in Architecture from the University of Cape Town (n.d.) and registered with the Institute of South Africa Architects in 1927. By 1939 he was working for PERRY & LIGHTFOOT in Cape Town. He became an Associate member of the RIBA in 1947. By 1950 he was found working in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe). In 1959 he is recorded as a retired member of the CPIA of address 8 New Rhodesia House, Stanley Avenue, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. In 1964 he changed his name to Brompton by which time he was living in Australia.

He died in Mosman, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
