Was born in Plymouth, England and educated at Plymouth College. He was articled to King & Lister, architects, Plymouth. On completion of articles he practised on his own account as an architect and surveyor in Plymouth. He joined the Tunnelers during the First World War and became a Captain in the ROYAL ENGINEERS. He came to South Africa after the war and joined the Roads Department of the City Engineers in Johannesburg in about 1923 where he remained until his death in 1933. ISAA 1927; TPIA 1932.
