SHUNN, John M

Architect

BArch (Rand), DipTP (Rand), ARIBA, ISAA, TPIA.

He was a member of STUDIO SEVEN, a group of University of the Witwatersrand lecturers who had an office on campus for commercial projects. 'SHUNN was an academic whose approach to architectural problem-solving was: "we need to draw a section", an attitude which reflected his general concern for how buildings were made and detailed. This and the use of space [was] another SHUNN speciality...'. Notable architects who came out of his atelier were HIRSCH, MARGOLES and Robin MIDDLETON (Chipkin 1993:244).

In 1959 his address was Department of Architecture, Room 239, Central Block, University of the Witwatersrand, Milner Park, Johannesburg. In 1969 he was of address 45 Morsim Road, Hyde Park, Johannesburg.
