VAN DREUMEL, Gerard

Of Delft, Departing from s'Gravenhage, South Holland, Netherlands, at age 31 to take up appointment as a draughtsman in Pretoria in 1899. He was member of the Hollander Corps during the Anglo-Boer War. He is recorded by VAN RIJSSE as Commandant of Section VI of the Hollander Corps as being a member of this Section. The Government Gazette of 18 November 1899 records him as taking part in the Battle of Elandslaagte. He fortunately survived this and was awarded the ZAR Oorlogsmedalje for service with this corps (Schoeman, 2011: 173).
