It is currently not known where Edwards received his training but he appears to have trained as an engineer, he was employed as district engineer by the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT in Port Elizabeth when he registered with the Institute of South African Architects in 1927, having succeeded H SIEMERINK in this post in about 1925 or 1926. By 1948 he was living in Cape Town and living at 11 Forest Drive in Pinelands. On retiring in 1951 he was living at 453 Moore Rd in Durban. ISAA 1927; MISE.
