Born in Angola of father EJ Meyer, then South African Consul to Angola. Educated at Windhoek High School, qualified in architecture at the University of Cape Town and received a Diploma in Town Planning from London University College. Arrived in South West Africa (now Namibia) in 1953. Married Jean Steinhobel in 1954. Served as President of the Institute SWA Architects (Namibian Institute of Architects). Lists interests as listening to high fidelity recording, botany, photography and painting. Member of the Windhoek Country Club, Windhoek Sports Club and Photographic Club.
