Born in Cape Town, Tim HEWITT-COLEMAN studied at the NMU (then University of Port Elizabeth) under the direction of Prof Danie THERON. He graduated in 1993, completing a treatise on 'The Role of the Urban Trader’s Market in Poverty Alleviation'.
In the early 1990’s Tim was earnestly engaged in the role of ''Developmental Architect''. These early years were spent in townships and rural areas, meeting with ordinary people, project steering committees, Local Negotiating Groups and Social Compacts, building modest, but desperately needed, community and education projects.
In 1996, Tim taught design at the Nelson Mandela University School of Architecture, where he continues to teach. Tim also served for two years on the Advisory Board of the Nelson Mandela University School of Architecture.
In 1997 Tim joined Sindile Ngonyama and Innocent Okpanum to form NGONYAMA OKPANUM HEWITT-COLEMAN. With the passage of time, Tim is now the sole director at noh ARCHITECTS.
