Gueritts was a French engineer, a senior partner in the consulting engineering firm of Mouchel & Partners of Paris who had expertise in reinforced concrete. He came to South Africa on a visit (1910/1911) to introduce the use of reinforced concrete, and was noted as 'inventor and designer of the famous cooling towers, five of which adorn the new Klip River Power Station'.
