Architect SACA: Reg No: 739 Year registered: 1940 BArch (Rand, 1937), DipTP, ARIBA (1940), ISAA (1940), FRIBA (1954), ISAA, TPIA. Studied architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand from March 1934; he graduated in June 1937 and took a further diploma in Town Planning. For a year (July 1937-1938) he worked in the office of an as yet unidentified architect. During his studies he made an architectural tour of Europe (1935). After the Second World War he became chief architect to the Director of Housing for the Union Government. He began practice on his own account in Johannesburg in 1946. He was a partner in the firm KENNEDY, FURNER, IRVINE-SMITH & JOUBERT and later, in the 1960s, IRVINE-SMITH, JOUBERT & LENNARD, both in Johannesburg. Probably married to Miss WJ MUNKS as her married name was CC Irvine-Smith.
