From August 1934 until April 1935 Kling worked in Harold PORTER's office and after qualifying spent from March to November 1936 in the office of STUCKE, HARRISON & SMAIL, from where he registered with the Institute of South African Architects. In August 1939 he joined B JANKS in partnership (cf JANKS & KLING); the firm became JANKS, KLING & TROPE in 1945; KLING & TROPE in 1947. In 1959 he is recorded as still of this partnership of address 820 SA Mutual building, c/o Commissioner and Harison Streets, Johannesburg, Transvaal, and again in 1969, then of address 502, Permanent Buildings, 75 Commissioner Street, c/o Simmonds Street, Johannesburg, Transvaal.
