KNOBEL, Johann Balthasar Christian (Baron)

Born: fl. 1803
Died: 1845

Architect

Does not appear to have had a great deal to do with building. He arrived in the Cape (from Germany?) in 1803 with F Von Buchenroder. Knobel was appointed District Surveyor of Uitenhage, a post he held for a considerable time from 1813 until 1845. During this period he was responsible for a projected design for the Uitenhage Dutch Reformed Church in about 1814.
