The bridge was a combination of girder and plate bridge superstructures, having two flanking fish-belly plate girders of 20m span each between the piers and bank abutments and a central girder span of 30m. The impressive sandstone piers with characteristic lewis holes are all that remain of the structure. The railway line has been diverted and now crosses the river to the North West as can be seen on the map.
