It would appear from the heading to the article in The Star 'A Modern Lighting Device' and the content 'Rooms in this house which do not face north receive north light through the clerestory window, which lights the corridor and helps to define the circulation space at the entrance', that the use of clerestory windows in houses was a very new idea.
