| Built after an urgent request directed to the ZAR State Secretary advising of the parlous state of the inhabitants of Klerksdorp when trapped by the flooding of the river. Coursed rough-hewn ashlar abutments supported a triangulated steel girder with timber deck spanning 12m. The deck was replaced with more durable material in 1897, the first of this generation of bridges to be upgraded.
