The Chemical Research Lab was planned to accommodate 80 research scientists. The planning concept was devised to reflect AECI's policy of maximizing contact between all scientists and engendering a collegiate community. This emphasized open areas and internal communal space relating to external courtyard, while minimizing the sterility normally associated with research accommodation.
