The metal sign at the entrance gate to MILNERLOO was recovered from the demolition site and is lodged at the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation's Research Centre. (William MARTINSON November 2015)

Milnerloo was at 7 Boundary Road on Portion 10 of Erf 26 Parktown.

According to the Valuation Roll it was only subdivided from Erf 26 – the Sunnyside Park Property - after that property had been sold by Wits University to the Pagets who built a house on the other corner i.e. cor Ridge Road and York Road.

The first owner of the land was WS Carr - recorded in the 1934 Valuations Roll - and by 1937 the house had been built on Portion K of Erf 26. WS Carr was I think the author of "Pioneer's Path" which covers his life from childhood in Johannesburg up until his years as mechanical engineer on several mines.

No building plans survive. The house was demolished as part of the Sunnyside Office Park development after 1992.

Submitted by: Flo Bird, Johannesburg Heritage Foundation, December 2015 via William MARTINSON.
