Click to view large map Coordinates: | This is a rare remnant NZASM Steel bridge superstructure, in particular of fish-belly steel-plate girders used as standard structural type for twenty meters spans, of which none were thought to remain. What can be clearly seen is that the original, lighter profiled steelwork of the NZASM period has been retained and supplemented with heavier profiled matching external girders in the British Colonial period, when the rail traffic was heavier, by manufacturers Ransomes & Rapier. |
