Built with the proceeds of the sale of Church Square, this church, like its sister church the Bosman Street Church, was designed by Dutch immigrant architects J.G. Kraan and J.B. Wijers who had both been employees of the ZAR Public Works Department before the Second Anglo-Boer War. This, the more demure of the two churches, with its articulated keystones, streaky-bacon coursing and neo-Classical elements fits comfortably within the Neo-Flemish Renaissance style. The main congregational space is, if smaller than that of the Bosman Street Church, equally spectacular with steel tie-rods connecting the timber roof trusses. The main chandelier is a beautiful Art Nouveau piece. The pulpit was designed by Dutch immigrant building contractor G. Dorlas who also constructed the church. The festoons that decorate the pulpit are by the hand of Dutch immigrant sculptor, Anton van Wouw.
