The house was designed by Tony Doherty for him and his wife as a starter home. The construction coincided with the period when the Pretoria Art Museum was built, as well as Munitoria (around 1967). There are quite a few similarities, especially the use of steel columns and aluminium windows. The original house was built on a 9 000m2 property, with 2 Bedrooms, a compartmentalised bathroom, a large Kitchen, Dining room and a Lounge. A second Living area was later added on the eastern side. There are two private courtyards at the back, and large cavity sliders on the northern and southern facade link the house with the courtyards and large garden. The floors in the Dining Room and living area have beautiful tiles combined with brick.

The approach to the front door is along a wall that extends from the Garage and is quite dramatic. The concrete roof, supported by the steel H-columnss was designed to receive another storey that was never built.

The house is not in a good condition, and it is clear that no maintenance was done for quite a few years.
