| The surviving child of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, Mrs Cecily Niven, initiated the commemoration of her father by creating trail markers of round bronze plaques (roundels) marking places associated with the account of his dog Jock, he had narrated as a children's story and later published in his acclaimed book, 'Jock of the Bushveld'. These plaques are located chiefly in the province of Mpumalanga, formerly the Transvaal Lowveld, where Fitzpatrick operated as a transport rider. While initially the plaques were of bronze, many are now stolen and replaced with resin replicas. A good number are located within the Kruger National Park, through which the old transport route once ran. There are also two bronze memorial sculptures depicting Jock. The following markers and sculptures are entries on this site: Jock of the Bushveld bronze statueJock and Sable bronze statue Jock Memorial |
