Erf 88712, plan no 53345, builder AB Reid. (FRIBA nom papers 1945; AB&E Jul 1938:16; Pryce-Lewis list 16 392) Built for American Josephine Claiborne Clegg (nee Faust) who bought up 8 stands totaling 16,000sqm on the mountainside. In 1938 she funded the Petrava Steps linking Boyes Drive to Upper Quarterdeck Road. Shell mouldings above bookcases were inspired by the US President's Oval Office. Sold in 1946 to Frances Vivian Mary Carlton-Jones (nee Mavrogordatos) as a holiday home. She commissioned additional rooms in 1946. Sold in 1950 to Kathleen Zilla Rumble. Sold in 1954 to Surgeon-Lt.
