(RAU doc)

Designed in 1939 by architect Leopold GRINKER and built for him as a speculative investment, this house has been a landmark in the bends of Jan Smuts Avenue for many years. A good example of Modern Movement architecture, its ship-like design in a bustling landlocked city like Johannesburg links the dependence of this city to the sea routes to the rest of the world.

[William MARTINSON, June 2010]

Demolished: January 2012
