Pres. Jan Brand laid the foundation stone of the church on 27 November 1880. Carved into the sandstone foundation stone and copied on a plaque above: (See photograph) EFEZE. 2. EFESIËRS 2:20-22 Julle is 'n gebou wat opgerig is op die fondament van die apostels en die profete, 'n gebou waarvan Christus Jesus self die hoeksteen is. In Hom sluit die hele gebou saam en verrys dit tot 'n heilige tempel vir die Here, in wie julle ook saam opgebou word as 'n geestelike huis waarin God woon.
