(SAA&B May 1905:157; LRIBA nom papers) Built before 1905, renovations were made sometime before 1910. Sir James Sivewright had bought Lourensford in 1899 from Mr Gustav Messow. In 1913 it was bought by Mr JW Jagger, the well-known Cape Town educationalist, businessman and politician. He demolished the old Lourensford house and built a large and comfortable mansion on the site (Heap 1970: 43-44). JW Jagger's house, in turn, was demolished in 1925 and another, now [1970] known as Fleur du Cap, erected on the same site (Heap 1970: caption illus. 14).
