Award of Merit Citation Stark logic and detailing combined to make of this home a unique solution. A difficult sloping site became a challenge to carve spaces for a rich variety of activities at all the edges of the building and its foothold on this slope. This integration of plan and section has given interior spaces a direct or indirect play of natural light, access to views and climate. The texture of built fabric is enriched by a concern for materials and the consequent detailing. Driving concepts and principles were not lost in the difficult process of execution, but resolved with merit. References: South African Institute of Architects. 2008.
