Fisher, with Clarke, reflect on what became of the concerted endeavours of the practitioners and their works after the hiatus of the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902), and particularly after 1900 when Pretoria fell to the British and most Dutch immigrants deported, while those who had become citizens when captured, joined their Boer compatriots in the distant Prisoner-of-War camps. While the turn of the century and of ruling power wrought stylistic changes, those that remained or returned carved themselves niches in both the profession and their societies, leaving a lasting and memorable legacy, institutional, professional and as built residue which persist into this day.
