MOGER, Horace

Architect


Was probably born in England where he received his training; he was articled from May 1893 to WJ Wilcox, architect, Bath. From January 1898 he was successively an assistant to Bishop & Pritchett in Swindon in Wiltshire and assistant to KE Buckel, architect, London, from January 1899 to 1903. He applied for Associate membership of the RIBA in 1903; F Bligh Bond, an architect active in the West of England and whom Moger had known since 1896, witnessed the papers. Moger came to South Africa soon after the end of the Anglo-Boer War. He first worked in Bloemfontein where the RIBA Kalender listed him living 1904/5. He was employed by the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT in the Orange River Colony as a draughtsman from 1906. After a few years, however, Moger returned to England where he was listed resident in the 1908-9 RIBA Kalender, working in Bath. He died in 1909.
