An Englishman who designed the first Chudleigh building in Johannesburg, but who practised in Cornwall, England, Trounson was born in Penzance, Cornwall where he practised and died; he does not appear to have visited South Africa. He was the son of the Penzance builder John Trounson. FRIBA 1888.
