Geers briefly notes in his LRIBA papers that he was educated in the Netherlands and South Africa. He came to South Africa in 1894, employed by NZASM in Pretoria until 1899. After the Anglo-Boer War, Geers continued to work in the public service, employed as a draughtsman in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT in Pretoria from 1902 until October 1930. From 1931 until about 1934 he worked in the architectural department of the Transvaal Provincial Administration; he was elected a Licentiate member of the RIBA in 1932. In 1934 he left the public service to work in partnership with his son, GMJ GEERS (cf GEERS & GEERS). After his son's death he continued to practise under the same name. He died at his home in Mowbray Road, Greenside in Johannesburg.
Buried in the West Park cemetery, Johannesburg.
