After the Anglo-Boer War, Geers continued to work in the public service, employed as a draughtsman in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT in Pretoria from 1902 until October 1930. From 1931 until about 1934 he worked in the architectural department of the Transvaal Provincial Administration; he was elected a Licentiate member of the RIBA in 1932. In 1934 he left the public service to work in partnership with his son, GMJ GEERS (cf GEERS & GEERS). After his son's death he continued to practise under the same name. He died at his home in Mowbray Road, Greenside in Johannesburg.
