| | GREGG, EbenezerBorn: 1833 Died: 1901 14 05Architect |
FRIBA 1870.
Gregg does not appear ever to have visited South Africa. He was trained in London, entering the office of Mr Sabine in Old Broad St at thirteen or fourteen years old, where he remained until he was seventeen. He was appointed manager, a post he appears to have held until 1868 when he entered into practice on his own account. Greggs was an examiner for the RIBA Board of Examiners in Professional Practice and Specification. He was the London architect for the Exploration Company building in Johannesburg (n.d.), according to his obituary in the RIBA Journal, Jun 1901:355, 384).
