Harvey was employed by the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT in the Orange River Colony from 1903 and possibly continued to do work there until he left for Johannesburg. He transferred his membership from the Orange Free State Provincial Institute of Architects to the Transvaal Provincial Institute of Architects when he came to work for the PWD in Pretoria in 1928. In 1930 he returned to the Orange Free State rejoining the OFSPIA on his transfer from the PWD, Pretoria to the PWD, in Bloemfontein. In 1933 he transferred to the Transvaal on promotion in PWD, taking up membership of TPIA again. LRIBA 1925; ISAA 1928.
