According to Van Niekerk (1950), Lawrence, an Englishman, designed a Dutch Reformed Church in Cradock in 1868; the principal Dutch Reformed Church in Cradock being built between 1862 and 1864 by WELCHMAN & READ who had gained the commission through competition, it is uncertain to which church Van Niekerk was referring. Nothing is known about Lawrence and he is not mentioned by Kesting. Currently his relationship to the Dutch Reformed Church in Cradock remains obscure.
