| According to Van Niekerk (1950), Lawrence, an Englishman, designed a Dutch Reformed Church in Cradock in 1868; the principal Dutch Reformed Church in Cradock being built between 1862 and 1864 by WELCHMAN & READ who had gained the commission through competition, it is uncertain to which church Van Niekerk was referring.
