| The first Town Hall was built in the late 1800s next to Market Square, c/o Kort and Liebenbergstrek Streets, forming the focus point on the visual axis along Oranje Street. It was extended in 1905. This building was destroyed by a fire that started during a movie show in 1930. A lot of valuable information was lost. The new and current complex (although extensively extended) was built in 1936 in a style, very contemporary for the era, designed by Gordon LEITH. (Brochure issued by the Parys Museum, submitted by Martin Strydom - Parys Museum Chair, 2012).
