This replaced the first Town Hall built in the late 1800s which was destroyed by a fire that started during a movie show in 1930. A lot of valuable information was lost, the current complex (although extensively extended) was built in 1936 in a style, very contemporary for the era, designed by Gordon LEITH.

(Brochure issued by the Parys Museum, submitted by Martin Strydom - Parys Museum Chair, 2012).
