SIKKEL was born in Leidschendam, South Holland, Netherlands, son of Dominee Dirk Sikkel (1887-1950) and Maaike nee Hasper (1882-19??). He was likely to have received his training in the Netherlands. When he registered with the Institute of South African Architects in 1939 he lived in Pinelands; his address was c/o SR IMMELMAN of 5 Aandblom Rd, Pinelands, Cape Town. In 1946 he joined FM GLENNIE and TE EGAN (cf GLENNIE, EGAN & SIKKEL). By 1969 he was principal in SIKKEL & PARTNERS of address Escom Building, Heerengracht, Cape Town, Cape Province.

He married Margaretha Wilhelmina Geertruida Florijn (1912-1993) in Cape Town, Cape Province on 1937 12 23 (FS) [Is Hendrik Arne SIKKEL his son? (Eds)].
