Transvaal Institute of Architects

First the Association of Transvaal Architects it became the Transvaal Institute of Architects or Transvaal Provincial Institute of Architects after the passing of The Architects' and Quantity Surveyors' Private Act of 1927, becoming a statutory provincial institute of the South African Institute of Architects for the old Transvaal province, for the purposes of maintaining the register, administering and supervising the affairs of the architectural practitioners there.
It was superseded in 1996 by the:
Gauteng Institute for Architecture (GIFA)
Limpopo Institute for Architecture (LIA)
Mpumalanga Institute of Architects (MPIA)
Northwest Province Institute of Architects (NWPIA)
Pretoria Institute for Architecture (PIA)
The Presidential Badge
The Presidential Badge, then owned by the Transvaal Provincial Institute, was designed by Professor GE PEARSE in collaboration with Willem de Sanderes HENDRIKZ. It was executed in gold by the South African Mint.
The Badge is suspended from a blue ribbon with gold bars attached and the names of Past-Presidents, and their years of office, of the Transvaal Provincial Institute are engraved on the bars. The names of the Past-Presidents, and their years of office, of the Association of Transvaal Architects, are engraved on the reverse side of the Presidential Badge.
